International Youth Day and Tree Plantation

12^th  August, 2019.

The tree plantation campaign along with NSS was implemented alongside environmental education and awareness, to promote environmental stewardship, encouraging a sense of responsibility of the planted trees to celebrate youth day. Trees were planted by Dr. Ramneek Kaur, Dr. Jatinderpal Singh, Ms. Madhavi and students of B.Sc. Final Year Medical in the building of senior citizen ashram on 12 August, 2019.

An informative lecture about drug abuse on 22^nd August 2019 was delivered by Ms. Simran, to raise awareness amidst the youth about the hazardous effects of drugs.

A lecture on drug awareness was organized by P.G. Deptt. of Zoology, DSCW, Ferozepur,   on 26^th August, 2019. A lecture on drug awareness was delivered by Dr. Ramneek Kaur on drug addiction as a growing concern in Punjab. She talked about how people often use drugs as an outlet for their problems, although drug use creates its own problems over time.

 A lecture on drug awareness was organized by P.G. Deptt. of Zoology, DSCW, Ferozepur,   on 11^th September, 2019. A lecture on drug awareness was delivered by Senior Buddy-Ms. Madhavi Kangotra and Junior Buddy- Anchal (10+1 Med.) on drug awareness as a growing concern in Punjab.

 World Suicide Prevention Day was observed on 12^th September, 2019. Dr. Ramneek Kaur delivered a lecture to create awareness among people about the fact that suicide can be prevented.

World Ozone Day was observed on 16^th September, 2019. A lecture was delivered by Ms. Madhavi to create awareness among students about the benefits of ozone layer.

 14^th November was celebrated as Buddy Day and a lecture on drug awareness was organized by P.G. Deptt. of Zoology and Political Science, DSCW, Ferozepur. A lecture on drug awareness was delivered by Dr. Ramneek Kaur, Dr. Kuldeep Kaushik and Dr. Rukinder Kaur on drug addiction and its various issues in Punjab.

World Diabetic Day

14^th November, 2019

This day was celebrated on 14th November, 2019 and Dr. Kuldeep Kaushik gave a presentation to discuss the causes and symptoms of diabetes. He explained that the day is celebrated to make people aware of the treatment, prevention and symptoms.

Lecture on Dangers Of Drug Abuse

27^th January, 2020

A lecture on the dangers of drug abuse was organized by P.G. Deptt. of Zoology, DSCW, Ferozepur City on 27th January, 2020. A lecture on drug abuse was delivered by Senior Buddy-Ms. Madhavi Kangotra. She talked about the dangers of drugs abuse especially among youth and the potential for addiction that increase due to physical need that the body develops once the drug effects are achieved although drug use creates its own problems over time.

Dental Check Up Program

22^nd February, 2020

P.G. Deptt. of Zoology, DSCW Organized a Dental Check-up program for the student of M.Sc. Ist Year Zoology on 22^nd Feb., 2020. Dental Check-up was done by Dr. Vivek Gupta-Dentist at DSCW. He explained that regular care and prevention of diseases in the mouth are the best possible care one can give his teeth.

National Science Day celebration

28^th February, 2020

The “National Science Day Celebration-2020” was conducted successfully on 28th Feb, 2020. Dr. Ramneek Kaur highlighted the significance of celebrating the Science Day in remembrance of Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman for receiving the noble prize for discovery of Raman Effect. Dr. Ramneek Kaur also elaborated the role of students in the development and progression of research in the field of science and technology.

ANTI-LEPROSY DAY

28^th February, 2020

A lecture was delivered by Ms Sumridhi to the students about a chronic infectious disease leprosy to create awareness among the students on 28 Feb. 2020 . She explained that up to 50% of people affected by leprosy will face mental health issues, such as depression or anxiety. There is also an increased risk of suicide among people living with the disease. She also discussed about the steps to eliminate the stigma and discrimination used against people with leprosy-related disabilities.

VISIT TO MUNICIPAL COOPERATION UNIT, FEROZEPUR CITY AND VERMICOMPOSTING WORKSHOP

3^rd March, 2020

P.G. Deot. of Zoology organized a visit to Municipal Cooperation Unit, Ferozepur City for Solid Waste Management on 3rd March, 2020. Dr. Sukhpal Singh, Inspector, Municipal Cooperation Unit, Ferozepur City urged the people not to throw garbage at any open space and use the designated places for dumping the garbage. He also explained various techniques of waste management, production of compost from kitchen waste, adaptability of waste management practices as a source of income. He further discussed about vermicomposting, a technique who has practise using earthworms to convert organic waste into a valuable soil amendment

Drug awareness lecture as a part under Buddy group was delivered to the students on 5th March, 2020 in the department. Dr. Ramneek Kaur through presentation raised awareness among the students about the hazards effects of drugs. Senior Buddy Dr. Ramneek Kaur through presentation raised awareness about the major challenge that illicit drugs represent to society as a whole, and especially to the young. She further asserted that drug problem is one of the most challenging issues we are facing. It has wide-ranging impacts on the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities, as well as on the security and sustainable development of nations.
