   Fish Farming

 (5^th Sept, 2013)

One day workshop on Fish Farming & Management was organized with the collaboration with Fish Farm Malwal, Ferozepur. Fish farms are the foundation stones of fisheries development in Inland sector. The seed produced at these seed production centre is either used for replenishing the harvested fish stock of open waters i.e or reservoir is further reared under semicontrolled conditions in growing ponds and sold for table purposes . For this purpose a lecture on fish and fisheries was delivered by Mr. Jagminder Singh on 5^th sept 2013.

Two Day Workshop on Medical lab Technology

Two day workshop on Medical lab Technology (In Collaboration with Guru Nanak Diagnostic Lab & Vishal Lab, Ferozepur City) on 18^th-19^th Sept, 2013. Student of B.Sc. IIIrd learned various upcoming methodology related to medical diagnostic techniques.

Visit to Blind Home, Leprosy Home Ferozepur City

A visit to Home for the Blinds and Leprosy Home Ferozepur City was organized on 30th Oct, 2013 by PG Department of Zoology.  The main purpose of visit was to interact with the people of Blind Home and to understand and realize the potential and strength of these people who inspite of odds have courage to see new horizons.  The residents of Blind Home presented various activities and volunteers from the Department organized a lunch for them. Students of the Department also interacted with the resident of Leprosy Home and distributed some food stuffs.

One Day Trip To Chattbir Zoo and Punjabi University Patiala

Department of Zoology organized a one day trip to Chattbir Zoo and Punjabi University Patiala to inculcate better academic outcome for the student of undergraduate Classes, a session of scientific interaction with the eminent personalities of Punjabi University, Patiala.  Students of B.Sc. Ist  got a chance to interact with them and in Chattbir Zoo student come to know about the various living and behavioral aspects of animals.

One Day Trip To Organic farm at Village Katehra, Fazilka

To demonstrate the pros and cons of organic farming, Zoology department made a collaborative tour with department of botany at Village Katehra, Fazilka dated on 3rd Sept, 2013. Village Katehra is a hub of organic farming at northern region of India. During the trip , demonstrator Mr. Vinod Jyani , also provided the detailed information of Bio-gas plant and its advantages over alternative ways of using cattle dung.

Career Counseling Cell

Career Counseling Cell of the Department of Zoology organized a career counseling week in the month of February, 2014. During the career counselling week, Department of Zoology interacts with the students of Undergraduate and Senior Secondary Classes. Dr. Kuldeep Kaushik and Ms. Pooja Kataria interacted with the students during career counselling week. Dr. Kuldeep Kaushik explained that career guidance and counselling programs help individuals to acquire the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to identify options, explore alternatives and succeed in society. The career guidance and counselling becomes a very important part of a student's life so that they can find their right track in the upcoming future. We Invited Dr. Sukhman Brar, Research Scholar, Dept of Psychology, Punjabi University, Patiala. She broadly discussed the problem encountered in women during this age and also suggest some positive way to come out from stress conditions. She also explained the way of entrance and secure respective seats in the various fields of sciences. Focus was also given to crack competitive exams after graduation to secure a job. Overall the lectures were eye opener for the students.

Realization of Bioethics Medical & Biological Research

Department of Zoology organized  One day national seminar on “Realization of Bioethics Medical & biological research” Sponsored by ICMR New Delhi. Around 150 delegate, research scholar and faculty members participated the program.
